Frequently Asked Questions: New E-Book Lending Policy
Starting next month, Fairview Public Library will update how digital lending works for e-books and audiobooks. Under the new system, patrons will be able to borrow up to eight digital titles at once, an increase from the previous limit of four. Loan periods will remain fourteen days for e-books and twenty-one days for audiobooks.
A new feature allows patrons to place items on hold directly from their phones through the library's mobile app, with notifications sent automatically once a title becomes available. Holds will be reserved for 48 hours before being released to the next patron in line.
Patrons who accumulate more than three overdue digital items will temporarily lose borrowing privileges until the items are returned or expire automatically. This policy does not apply to physical books, which will continue to follow existing overdue procedures.
For questions about setting up the mobile app or troubleshooting download issues, patrons may visit the help desk on the second floor or contact support through the library's website.
